COURSES FOR TEACHERS
A number of one-day courses for teachers and student teachers are available by arrangement. These are of two types:
A) One-Day Familiarisation courses for Folk Park Learning Programmes. Meet the education officers to hear about the aims of the programme, its links with the curriculum, preparatory materials and suggestions, follow-up ideas, with opportunities to experience some of the pupil activities. A minimum of 10 participants is required for most sessions. Please contact us at least one month in advance of your requested date.
B) Specialist Emigration courses offered by the Centre for Migration Studies at the Folk Park. 'Tailor-made' courses vary in length and are suitable for various levels of adult education. The main themes are:
Master of Social Science (MSSc, QUB) degree in Irish Migration Studies. A two- year part time course, it is taught in CMS one evening per week, in association with the Institute for Lifelong Learning of Queen's University, Belfast. The Literature of Irish Exile Autumn School. This annual autumn school brings together experts in the field of literature and emigration and takes place annually in October at the Folk Park.
Ulster-American Heritage Symposium is hosted every four years by CMS. The next Symposium at the Folk Park is in summer 2008.
