PUPILS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The Folk Park particularly welcomes groups with special needs. Many education programmes at the Park are sensory and participatory based and have been successfully adapted and used with special needs groups. With opportunities to touch taste, observe, listen and smell, pupils can relate in a way that is appropriate for them. Please contact the Education Officer to discuss your particular needs further.

CROSS COMMUNITY CONTACT AND CITIZENSHIP
Schools are encouraged to use the Folk Park and the Residential Centre for cross-community contact and citizenship programmes. Many of our education programmes, including craft workshops, have been used very successfully as part of cross community contact programmes. Teachers on planning days welcome.

INTER-GENERATIONAL WORK
Are you looking for an interesting and novel venue for intergenerational work? Why not bring your project group to the Park to share the day with your pupils and exchange information on emigration and childhood memories.

DRESSING UP
Many children now visit the Folk Park wearing traditional type costume, which helps to enhance the experience of the visit. Suitable costume can be easily made or adapted, with the help of an advice leaflet available from the education department at the Folk Park.

DRAMA IN THE PARK
In addition to the programmes offered to residential groups why not prepare a drama scene in school and record it on location at the Park. Please discuss your project with us well in advance of your visit so that we can schedule your needs accordingly.
